Construction

Off and on for the last few weeks (mostly on weekends), construction has been going on at night down by the railroad. It has started up around 12:30 (00:30), after the last train to or from Ponte Tresa, and continued until the first train in the morning, around 5:30. Last night they went into round-the-clock construction mode, and actually cut the tracks, which they should put back together in time for trains Monday.

We received a notice in the mail explaining what they are up to. They are building an underpass, which is what we thought it looked like, but we couldn't imagine why an underpass would lead to the ravine. It's for a path to a park. My Italian isn't good enough to tell whether they're building a new park or making a walking path to the existing Parco Tassino. It says "formazione di percorsi pedonali e di un parco giochi", which I think implies that the park as well as the walking path will be new.

I may be using a different bedroom for a few nights, to have a window that doesn't face on the construction. If you're a secret fan of Tonka trucks, click on the images below to see them full size. The first is to the left, looking from the kitchen balcony. The second is to the right, looking from the bedroom balcony.
